General information about coins

As an heir or layman, it is often difficult to assess the value of a coin collection or stock. One advantage is certainly that, as an auction house, we only take a percentage of your sales success. Our aim is not to acquire your treasures as ‘cheaply’ as possible, but to sell them at the highest possible price via our auction. In other words, a good basic prerequisite!

However, it has to be said that not every coin collection is suitable for auction.

A good basic prerequisite is a large collection of silver or gold coins, even from the DM or euro era, as well as a collection of classic coins from before 1900 or imperial coins. Certain euro coins, e.g. from San Marino, the Vatican, etc., from the early years are also eligible for auction.

Not suitable for us are so-called ‘coin collections of holiday money’, i.e. simple circulation coins from the last 70 years, collections or stocks of Pfennig coins or small quantities of simple 5 and 10 DM coins, e.g. less than 50 pieces, from the 1960s onwards. We are also not interested in so-called ‘misprints’.

If in doubt, please contact us by telephone or send us images by e-mail (harald.rauhut@rauhut-auktion.de). You will of course receive competent information.

(We also ask for your understanding that personal visits to our premises can only take place by telephone appointment. Thank you very much).
